Loving v0.85, but does anyone know of a way to upload videos to WordPress using the WordPress for Nokia client without going Premium with VideoPress and spending >$50 per year when you’re not a pro blogger. (Just using free online features.)

Unfortunately it only supports VideoPress currently. Is embedding Youtube/Vimeo videos enough for you or would you need to actually upload videos from your phone?

    • mbrett 7:59 pm on November 8, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ideally want to make the most of uploading direct from phone. But I;m of the generation that wants everything. :-)

        Hi,

I am struggling with the Video upload section, I am using a self Hosted wordpress site. The video’s now load correctly from the phone after giving it a 100MB limit. but i cannot find any MP4 player (swf, DOP,Pro Player etc) that will actually play the mp4 file properly, everything plays the sound, but NO Actual Picture.

I singed up to the videopress section ( have one month to get it working), but the system does not link together properly. (if i load them through a PC this works correctly).

But i have a phone to blog my travels so i don’t need a PC!. Photo, Video, Blog. Done. move on. I am riding a motorbike around the world.. It is a great idea, but i am truly frustrated on this.
I carry the laptop a lot of the time because of dirt track riding. but i always carry a phone !.

    UI drafts

    Hi,
I’ve been doing graphic design for the client for a few days now, and I’d like to show you something.

You already saw some early drafts for N900. Here are drafts for two views on Symbian touch. What do you think?

Impressive. I like the look of them a lot, and will make using the app more easy on the eye, and enforce confidence during usage too. Great job Pekka.!

      Hi,

people here have suggested to get rid of the “white lines or whatever stuff there is” at the background and make it solid/linear gradient. What’s your view on that? IMHO we could gain couple of FPS with solid colour without losing too much attractiveness. Please correct me if I’m wrong here.

      • Pekka 8:09 am on April 29, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Doesn’t look too bad with a solid color, let’s go with that.

      Hello everybody,
I m trying this release over a symbian 3rd edition device i got a lot error message while installing. Does it will work?

      • futubanister 11:03 am on February 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

        Hi Roberto,

What does the error message say? Couple of guesses

        1. Certificate error
You have to enable installing self-signed software. In my E75 (S60 3rd edition device) it is done via Mainmenu->ControlPanel->AppManager->Options->Settings->Software installation->”All”

        2. Qt libraries not installed
Make sure you’ve installed qt libraries from here: ftp://ftp.qt.nokia.com/pub/qt/symbian/4.6.2/qt_installer.sis

        3. Other errors
Please let me know details about the errors so we can reproduce and possibly fix them.

        Trac: http://nokia.trac.wordpress.org/

Can you try to remove from app. manager everything related to Qt and OpenC and reinstall? Error 33 means timeout in Symbian, so probably the installation of some subcomponent failed.

                • Abhinav 6:22 pm on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

i was able to remove Qt file .. but where is OpenC ?? can’t find it anywhere ?? it happened on the previous version of Qt as well !! if u check the queries.. lot of people with E72 HAVE THIS PROBLEM !!

      • Janne Kalliomäki 6:07 pm on February 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Hello Robert, please note that you need at least 3rd Ed. Feature Pack 1 device (i.e. Symbian 9.2). Qt is not supported on plain 3rd ed (Symbian 9.1).

    • Eivind M. 9:08 pm on February 21, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I’m having troubles. The install works nice. But when I try to enter blog details, no text is visible, so it’s impossible to see what I’m typing. It’s also impossible to re-open the fields to change the text entered, so I have to restart the app, try my next shot in the dark at getting the adress right (including http:// – impossible..!), and so on.

Is this a known bug? I’m on a Nokia N95 original.

      • apacheking 2:12 am on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Bro you have to press right joystick button after typing to see the texts dont type in dictionary mode

      • Janne Kalliomäki 10:52 am on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Thank you for the report. This is not a previously known issue. It sounds a lot like the Nokia 5530 issue that was reported, meaning that there might for some reason be white text on a white background. This will be investigated.

        • Eivind M. 11:19 am on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Problem was resolved by disabling the dictionary, as apacheking proposed. I get to enter the information, now the problem is that I’m not able to connect to any blogs. Have tried both my self hosted blog at http://marienblogg.no, and my wordpress.com blog http://abstinenser.wordpress.com.

Plan on investigaing further today, but any tips or pointers are appriciated. It says it’s loading my blogs, but nothing happens.

One issue that we have seen is that if you have a WLAN access point as your primary Internet connection, but you are not in the reach of the WLAN, connection does not work for some reason. That seems to be a bug of Qt. So if you have WLAN access point as default one, you could try to switch it for 3G one and test.

          • Janne Kalliomäki 12:06 pm on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ah, you are using S60 3.1, so you should get an access point query when you start the application. Do you see that and do you select a valid access point at that point?

            • Eivind M. 1:09 pm on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Yeah, I selected my home WLAN the first time the application started. But I never got that dialog again. That’s quite meaningless, as I tend to bring my mobile phone with me to different locations, so being able to choose which connection is preferred at that time would be great.

How do I select access point on later starts?

            • Eivind M. 7:42 pm on February 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Tried again now, and this time it worked. Great!

A bit sad that you can’t use the T9 dictionary while editing entries (the text disappears again), but I assume that’s already on the road map? :)

              • Peter Tennekes 6:53 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Hi thanks for trying out the app. There is a ticket related to T9 http://nokia.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/29, but this specific problem is new. Could you tell me if this problem is in all text entry dialogs or one specific one? And could you specify if the word disappears (e.g. cursors moves back) or if the text is invisible (e.g. cursor remains on the same spot but no text is visible)? Thanks!

                • Eivind M. 6:56 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The problem is in all text entry dialogs I’ve tried, both when setting up the blog, and when typing in entries etc.

The cursor moves forward and text gets entered, but it’s not visible until I move out of the text entry field. It doesn’t seem like the program handles the T9 correct either, because the letters that appear doesn’t really form the words I was typing.

I’m also having problems with the program responding very slowly, taking a second or two to register what letter I type. That might also be my phone being slow, I guess, though.

                  • Janne Kalliomäki 9:58 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

This is something that I (and Peter) must investigate, as we have not been able to reproduce the issue. T9 worked well with the N95s that I tried with. Can you check what is the firmware version of your phone? You can get it by typing *#0000# on the idle screen. If you have older version than 31.something, you could try to upgrade to the newest firmware and see if that helps.

                    • Eivind M. 10:24 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

31.0.017 is the firmware version. I could try to do an upgrade. I was wondering if the problem could be caused by other programs installed on the phone, but I don’t have any of them running while testing, so that would be strange too.

I’ll check later if there is a firmware upgrade available :)

                      • Janne Kalliomäki 10:27 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink

Okay, so that is not likely the problem, as I yesterday tested with version 31 and it worked. We’ll keep testing, if you find anything that could contribute to this, please let us know!

                  • Peter Tennekes 11:52 am on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I tried it today and one thing i noticed is that, unlike the other texts, the text suggested by T9 is affected by the theme. Could you change the theme so we can verify that this is indeed the issue?

                    • Eivind M. 7:48 pm on February 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Just to check that I’ve got it right – change the theme of the blog, right?

                      • Janne Kalliomäki 10:21 pm on February 23, 2010 Permalink

No, the phone theme. So if you change the theme to have a different color scheme, the colour of the text entered with T9 should change.

Janne Kalliomäki 11:21 pm on February 23, 2010:

(Impossible to find the reply button when the replies gets indented so much, so I have to reply down here… :) )

I can confirm that changing the theme of the phone fixed the T9 issue. When using a theme with a default black background and white text, the text is invisible while typing. When switching to a theme with a white background and black text, the text is visible while typing. Both with the T9 activated.

Another strange thing, though, is that the T9 all of a sudden is unable to automatically give me a large capital letter in the beginning of sentences, as it alwats does everywhere else.

But at least the T9 issue is narrowed down, then :)

        Thanks!

Looks like there are couple of Qt bugs filed about similar issues:
        http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-5934 and
        http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-4072

Qt might fix these in the future releases, which means that WP will also get fixed. Anyway, we’ll check if there’s something we’ve messed up with the text styles.

        Thanks again for the cooperation!

Thanks for the help! I love the app :)

Is it possible to make feature requests? I like being able to check comments, posts and pages, but one of the main reasons I visit my wordpress dashboard often is that I want to check the stats, and see if anyone is visiting my blog. Could the wordpress.com stats in some way be incorporated in the WordPress app? :)

          • Janne Kalliomäki 3:36 pm on February 24, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Thank you for the suggestions. I have forwarded the text color issue to Qt bug tracker. Stats feature is pretty high on our wishlist, but it is also very laborious, so we might do some easier features first, like text formatting improvements.
