    0.8.2 Update

    Hi,

this time around we have been doing small tweaks here and there. These include:

    • Optimized startup time + splash screen
    • Mask password properly in password editor
    • Various rendering and user experience issues have been fixed or worked around

    Symbian packages for S60 5.0 and 3.2:
Install: WordPress_0_8_2_selfsigned_installer.sis – Smart Installer for first time users
Update: WordPress_0_8_2_selfsigned.sis – Regular sis for updating

Symbian packages for S60 3.1 (no location support):
Install: WordPress_0_8_2_selfsigned_installer_no_location.sis – Smart Installer for first time users
Update: WordPress_0_8_2_selfsigned_no_location.sis – Regular sis for updating

Maemo builds coming up tomorrow – I’ll keep you posted…

I’d be more than willing to pay if I can get a decent and working WordPress app for my E71. Tried both but no success.

    • futusaber 10:19 am on September 9, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Are you sure you tried the right build (3.1 smart installer)? I just tested this on our test E71 and it works fine.

If it still doesn’t work, could you please be more specific with the errors you are getting?

The Maemo autobuilder just finished with the new build, so the package should be available shortly in extras-devel!

      Hi there.
I need some instructions. I installed Qt SDK and I found there file qt_installer.sis – I installed it on my E71 successfully. Then I tried installing “WordPress_0_8_2_selfsigned_installer_no_location.sis – Smart Installer for first time users” installation went pretty good up to the point where it asked for internet connection and then it showed ‘Installation failed’ message.

With my N82 I have exactly the same problem of rodakk

      • futusaber 7:57 am on September 15, 2010 Permalink | Reply

If you have already installed qt_installer.sis you should be able to use the non-smart-installer version. Also note, that it is best to install both (WordPress and Qt) on the C-drive, people have reported problems when installing either on a memory card. You also need to make sure you have enough space on your drive. Hope this helps…

QT Mobility installed fine now, did you use the latest SDK to compile the WordPress app version 0.8.2? Could I compile it myself? I ought to try that… :)

              • futusaber 1:55 pm on September 15, 2010 Permalink | Reply

You could compile the app yourself. It should be rather straight forward. Just comment out the part where Qt mobility is bundled from the .pro file and you will get a version without mobility bundled.

        Hi Andreas,

        http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Nokia_Smart_Installer_for_Symbian

“05.10.2010 – Qt Mobility support for Nokia N8 now fully enabled.”

This is good news for all of the lucky ones with their new N8 :)

Let us know how it goes… IMHO the normal package should work fine.

Ok, N97 running V22 firmware, this latest release appears to have a bug in landscape mode when entering your password via the N97 qwerty. When using a high level password containing special characters, for some reason the ***** reverts to showing only three *, and not actually entering your full password. The only way to resolve this is by entering your details in portait mode.

      • futusaber 7:02 am on September 29, 2010 Permalink | Reply

It could be that your C-drive is full, and this is why it doesn’t ask where to install. It would also be the reason for it to fail. You need to install it on the C-drive once you have enough space. I know it might be difficult to come up with so much space on that phone :(

If this is not the case, I don’t know what might be going on…

0.8.0 with new UI design released!

We’ve been working hard to implement Pekka’s UI concepts and now have a release ready. It’s not quite pixel perfect, partly because the fonts available don’t match 100%, and partly because some limitations in Qt. However, we got pretty close, and are more than happy with the new look!

Below are the installation packages for S60 5.0 and 3.2. Maemo builds (and maybe S60 3.1) builds will follow:

          • Anssi 5:32 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

IMHO you definitely get a better experience with bigger screens… Kinda understandable its not maybe the best experience on N86 but at least its there if needed urgently ;)

          • futusaber 6:47 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The application is mainly designed for touch screens; keypad navigation and low resolution support were more or less added on afterwards. Currently enhancing the experience in non-touch devices is not high on our priority list, but there might be some improvement in the future…

The good news is, that the app should work on just about any device that has a new enough Qt and Qt Mobility supported. And if the device has a touch screen, the user experience is much better.

        • Andreas 12:59 pm on September 8, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Symbian doesn’t work; at least I tried it on an N8 and I get an “Update error”, then installation stops.

          • futusaber 1:18 pm on September 8, 2010 Permalink | Reply

For the N8 you need a special version Qt Mobility, which we can not publicly distribute right now. The version bundled along is what causes the update error. We will hopefully have the problem solved before the N8 hits the stores :)

Clicking ‘reply’ on a comment should open the post it belongs to, with a comment editor right after the body of the post. Unfortunately I could not reproduce this problem, so any details could be useful in hunting down the bug.

As a workaround, you should be able to reply also by opening the post from the posts list.

This is a problem with S60 3.1 devices. We don’t have a 0.8.0 build available for those yet.
I won’t get into the gritty details of why this is, but for now the newest build you can try is 0.7.4 .

Update on my N86 experience with this version.

      Installed fine as mentioned earlier.

Filled in my blog details ok, however, upon fetching posts, pages, and comments, I had to confim internet connection several times in order for it to update everything.

      • Micky Aldridge 5:37 am on August 26, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The same happened again when adding my api key to get my statistics, which once updated, no stats are showing, however, referrers are showing.

        • futusaber 7:07 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

This is something we haven’t been able to reproduce. Since at least two people have reported this, we’ll need to get our hands on more test data to see if we can reproduce and fix this…

      • futusaber 7:06 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The connection confirmation issue is something we have kind of seen also. We usually get one or two dialogs, almost never more than that. This is a defect in the standard Qt network access component. Qt Mobility, however, seems to have some mobile device specific network session functionality, which might be of use here. We’ll take a look at those and see what we can do. Thanks for reporting this!

Just installed on my Nokia X6. Looks really great, but statistics are not shown (but referrers). When changing view from daily to weekly, the application aborts and pushes me to my menu. Do I always have to enter my API key when I want to see statistics?

      • futusaber 7:10 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The issues with statistics is something we haven’t been able to reproduce, but we’ll try and see what we can do about it. Sorry about the crash…The API key is saved when you exit the application succesfully. If the application crashes, the key will not be saved.

        • anihh 11:29 am on August 27, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Okay, Api key was saved now.
However, I can see stats for today, but not before. Changing to weeks does not crash today, perhaps has something to do with null statistics?

    0.7.4 Released

Continuing the 0.7.X trend, this build mostly improves keyboard support again. However, we do have other improvements also. Here is the full change log:

    • Improve image selection user experience
    • More keyboard navigation improvements/fixes
    • Enable location tagging on Symbian
    • Render comments and post/page titles correctly
    • Fix “memory full” errors in some cases
    • Various bug fixes

NB! Due to the location tagging features, this build will not install on S60 3.1 devices (this includes e.g. the E71). This is because the Location capability is not supported in self-signed builds on 3.1. Devices with S60 3.2 and 5.0 will work fine. We will have a solution for this in the future, but for now all S60 3.1 users will just have to wait, sorry…

S60 Smart Installer: WordPress_0_7_4_selfsigned_installer.sis (initial install)
    S60 SIS package: WordPress_0_7_4_selfsigned.sis (upgrade)

        Hi Laszlo!

Unfortunately this looks like a configuration issue at your server. When PHP crashes it outputs some error message that has linebreaks in it (that’s where the br -element comes from).

Wild guess: Try accessing http://yourblogaddress/xmlrpc.php?rsd and see if you get any sensible results?

          (Using w/ N95 8gb)
This is my first version so I’m not sure if the font was really small in 0.7.3. So far two big problems besides the font that’s been mentioned.

          1) I can’t cycle through the different t9 spelling options to the point where I can spell and put in a word. I have to then just cycle trough each letter at a time o make the word.

          2) I can’t move around within a body of text I’m writing. Up, down, left, and right move me in and out of the different fields within the page. But to move around within the text, I have o backspace pretty mch or jus leave what I said.

          • futusaber 8:57 am on August 16, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Both of your issues are in Qt – we are using the standard text editing components, but they don’t seem to support T9 too well…

Regarding 2), the text should be navigable with the left and right arrows. This works well on both our N95 and N95 8GB. We do, however, have other problems on those devices, so I’m not surprised to find out that you are having issues.

Unfortunately you will just have to wait for a more stable Qt release to fix these issues…

            • Shahryar 3:39 pm on August 16, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Let me double check moving within a text field with left and right. Any way to make it work like the nokia browser works? I can move up and down and left and right within a text field. I Get out by going all the way to the top or to the bottom – or maybe even hitting the center button?

      • futusaber 8:51 am on August 16, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The font is quite small, yes. We’ll make it bigger for future releases.

I found unescaped characters only in editors and the single post view, which is already fixed in our development version. Did you encounter them elsewhere also? I’m not quite sure if escaping them is the right thing to do in editors, but we’ll think about it…

        • Dan 1:21 pm on August 16, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Also in the Post Title in the Comments tab there were escaped characters.

          • futusaber 10:30 am on August 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Could you elaborate on this, which characters were they? We already rendering this as html and e.g. & amp ; (spaces inserted to make sure it displays) is rendering as an ampersand. I couldn’t produce any problems while testing this just now…

Hi! I’m very enthusiast of work you’ve done still now, and I was asking me why there wasn’t an official app for symbians/maemo smartphones. So thanks for your efforts.
In my early testing I’ve found only one little pain in the neck: the resize of images; I’ve noticed I can’t choose the exact size, that’s true? For sure only to be patient :)

      Bye ya!

      • futubanister 5:58 am on August 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

        Thanks PioneerSkies!

Yeah, you cannot choose the resizing size at the moment – it’s just on/off switch. That being said we take your feedback seriously and will try to find an optimum solution for setting the image size without too many options-screens (we hate those).

You can expect a new version around Tuesday / Wednesday next week – after that we’ll collect the feedback and try to plan the next features and urgent fixes.

    • PioneerSkies 9:28 am on August 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I think that, if we don’t want many options-screens, an idea could be to use the images sizing setting of the blog; so that, for example, I’ll configure my blog with a medium images size of 480×320 and the app will read that size.
Only brainstorming, just because is better a bad idea that a non-said idea. :)

So I’ll wait for the next week to do further tests; I’ve a redaction of people who write on a wordpress site and I hope to introduce to those of them using nokia smartphone this app as soon as it will be ready.

      Bye

Should either of the smart installers work on the N96? No matter which I try, I eventually get “Reverting changes”, followed by “Device not supported”.
I am currently downloading 0.7.3′s smart installer, and will then grab the upgrade package, if that installs….
Aaargh! Just found thhis! I guess that means I’m stuck up the proverbial creek for the forseeable future :(

I just installed this new version of the WP app for Nokia mobile phones, I never used it before and I find it really useful although I’m having a problem with it. The problem is that I’m not able to publish any of my new posts to my blog and I don’t know why, I’ve tried looking for those posts in the WP dashboard in my computer and they’re not there either. I have a Nokia 5530 and Symbian S60 5th Edition. What can I do about it, any suggestions?

      • futubanister 5:54 am on August 25, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Interesting – does it just timeout or are there any error messages? Have you set the post status to “published” when saving it?

We’ll be releasing new version later today, let’s see if the issue can be reproduced with that one.

        • xinita 1:02 am on August 26, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Thanks for replying! It doesn’t time out nor show any error messages, the only thing that happens is that the post box gets darker displaying one of those loading icons and stays like that until I close the application. The first time it happened it thought it was because I saved it as a draft so I created a new post and set it as published, then saved it and the same thing happened.

I’ll wait until the next version is released and try it, I’ll let you know if it happens again :D

    0.7.3 Released

This release is primarily targeted toward non-touch phone users, as the improvements are mostly related to keyboard navigation. Another week of developing has brought the following new features:

    • At least 97% of the UI should be navigable with the keyboard now, please report any problems you might have. We will also be doing some testing next week to be sure everything is working.
    • Long comments can be scrolled with the keyboard
    • Focus and scrolling are kept in sync better in lists
    • Key presses in platform dialogs shouldn’t leak through to the application as they did before
    • list items are smaller on low resolution devices, so you can see more at once

The E71 deadlock which was in our previous release has been worked around. We are real sorry about this one, but it seemed to be a rather obscure Qt bug we were facing. Hopefully it wont be encountered by anyone anymore!

While working at keyboard support, we noticed that the image upload selection list truly is broken on Symbian. This shows the difficulty of developing for multiple platforms, as we didn’t realize the extent of the breakage until now, as Maemo builds were working fine. Fixing the image selection view will be high on our priority list next week.

Ok, one issue I see is recurring in two versions now. As you know some of us have bogs hosted with other hosts and not WordPress, I am one such person. Well in short I have WP 3.0 Installed on the control panel of my host company and use it as my app for posting / editing posts daily. Now for example on mine there is no API issued by WP but yes an API from AKISMET also 12 digits/letters. This API key doesn’t work on the app on my E71 so therefore cannot see any stats. The rest seems to work for now, still playing around with the app. More to follow.

      • terom 1:40 pm on July 28, 2010 Permalink | Reply

If you have the wordpress.com Stats plugin installed on your self-hosted blog, and configured with your wordpress.com API Key, then it should in theory be possible to view your self-hosted blog’s stats using the mobile client – but we haven’t really tested this scenario, so it would be interesting to hear if it works or not.

You might be able to get it to work by fiddling with the Blog URL that you’ve entered in the app – in particular, by making sure that it’s the same as what your blog’s official URL is (as configurable in the wp-admin panel under Settings).

Also, is it possible to view/search for gallery items already uploaded? That would be awesome!

Do you mean that the thumbnail is not shown, or that the image is not in the list at all? You can load the thumbnail by clicking the arrow icon, or pressing the “(arrow) right key” when the item is selected. We are working on improving this right now, and will be releasing a build latest on Friday with improvements related to this included.

with this new version, I still have the problem of navigating on the post’s text.. I’m I missing something? I have a E-72 and the only way to navigate on the post’s text is by using the left and right keys which makes it REALLY dificult to edit… to go to the middle of the post I’ll have to wait for the cursor to get there by pressing the left key, if I click up or down it navigates to other textboxes or buttons.
One again… is there something I’m missing or this is the way it suppose to be? I hope there is a workaround for this. Thanks.

      • futusaber 10:44 am on August 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

This is the default behavior of the components we use, and changing it would brake e.g. inserting of links. We are planning to do some improvement to this, which will be in future releases. Unfortunately this is not as simple to fix as it might seem…

First preview release towards E-series support – 0.7.2

We’ve been working on re-enabling support for non-touch devices for about a week now, and have come far enough to release. Version 0.7.2 includes the following changes:

    • Improved keyboard navigation support
    • Improved low resolution display support
    • Some minor UI tweaks
    • Some optimizations in refreshing (rebuilt post category view)

Keyboard navigation and low resolution support are still work in progress. You might still get stuck in some views, and some parts of the UI are too big, but mostly it is functional.

NB! With one specific Symbian device, we ran into a seemingly random deadlock situation, which went away eventually. Your phone might deadlock shortly after starting the application, forcing you to remove the battery to reboot. This should not harm your phone, but you could loose any unsaved data. You have been warned!

he S60 build is availble as a self-signed SIS package, and a smart installer which will automatically install the Qt dependencies if needed. The maemo build is available from the extras-devel repository.

        1) This seems to be a Qt bug, which should be fixed in future Qt releases. Unfortunately I’m afraid you’ll just have to wait on this one…
        2) It should save the key when you close the application. If you manage to crash it, or kill it some other way, the key will not be saved.

We could reproduce this only on one E71, while other phones worked just fine. Since you were able to reproduce it, we took a closer look, and were able to work around the issue, which seems to be a Qt bug. We’ll be rolling out a new release tomorrow, in which this should be fixed.

We are very sorry about the inconvenience, but obscure bugs like this can be tricky…

    0.7.0 Release

So. Our previous development release was version 0.6.99. What version number comes after .99? We thought that 0.6.100 would be a little ugly, so we’re going to call this 0.7.0 instead. It isn’t a fully QA-verified dot-zero release, but we’re now a major step forward from 0.6.0.

Compared to 0.6.9x, we’ve done some fairly major changes to the UI code. For the more technically inclined, this means that we went back from a fullscreen QGraphicsView-based UI to a normal QWidget-based UI (with a QGraphicsView in the middle). For the rest of you, this just means good news, because the new UI looks (almost) exactly the same as the 0.6.9x UI, but it resolves a lot of our previous UI issues.

Maemo keyboard input works now. Sticky-shift, auto-caps, word completion, áccents, ümlauts, on-screen keyboard, etc.
Symbian keyboard input also works better, and a lot of other UI issues are gone.

Looking back at our original Version 0.7 – what’s going to happen post, we’ve come a long way along with those targets:

    • New UI? Check.
    • Better backend in terms of UI updates? Check.
    • Keyboard navigation? Sorry E71 users, but we’re not quite there yet :(

So, this 0.7.0 release represents what we believe to finally be a working implementation of our new UI/backend concept. No doubt, however, there are still many unpolished corners, so we’re going to be pushing new 0.7.x releases to fix these at the same pace we’ve been pushing the 0.6.9x releases.

As a bonus for N900 users, we’ve also included the first version of a new Geo-location tagging feature for blog posts in the maemo build. Note, however, that this requires a supporting plugin on the wordpress side, but said plugin unfortunately isn’t yet available.

The S60 build is availble as a self-signed SIS package, requiring Qt 4.6.3 (QtMobility 1.0.1 is already included). The maemo build is available from the extras-devel repository.

    S60: WordPress_0_7_0_selfsigned.sis

An updated Smart Installer build is not yet immediately available, but will be uploaded in the immediate future.

    N900: Install wordpress from extras-devel

We’re looking to promote this 0.7.0 build (or a very close relative) to extras-testing in the immediate future as well.

Edit: Symbian Smart installer build: http://nokia.trac.wordpress.org/export/446/builds/symbian/testing/WordPress_0_7_0_selfsigned_installer.sis

    New 0.6.99 development build available

    Hi!

We’ve been fixing some UI issues, so here’s a new update for Symbian/maemo, with many UI-visible changes:

    • Feature: Fix the page/post text edit widgets to automatically resize themselves to display the entire text content
    • Statistics: Fixed API key handling
    • Statistics: Stats data is now only loaded when you open the Statistics view (better startup speed)
    • Statistics: Update to reflect new UI style
    • Blogs list: Update to use new UI style
    • Maemo: more text edit focus issue workarounds (the blog-edit view should work now)
    • Comment/Post/Page list view text/layout tweaks
    • More robust error handling for RSD queries

The issues with advanced text input (auto-capitalization, predictive text, sticky shift, dead keys like accents) on maemo are still unresolved.

The S60 build is availble as a self-signed SIS package, requiring QtMobility.sis and Qt 4.6.3. The maemo build is available from the extras-devel repository.

    S60: WordPress_0.6.99_selfsigned.sis

    N900: Install wordpress from extras-devel

Thanks for helping to test these builds, your feedback on bugs is very useful to us.

    0.5.4 released

    Hello everybody!

We are proud to release version 0.5.4 (Maemo and Symbian). The highlight of the release is that we have added new buttons, with which it is a lot easier to add text formatting and links to your blog posts. The buttons are still work-in-progress, so any feedback is welcome.

We have also fixed some bugs. Image upload memory usage has been optimized. And if there is a network error while publishing a post or page, it is saved to local drafts. The application has better error messages as well.

Stay tuned for the next version with stats support!

Edit: While we were preparing this release, we managed to fix ticket #23, so I have uploaded new binaries that contain the fix as 0.5.4a. Otherwise, the packages are the same.

Luckily my long post was saved to drafts as promised.

        Some observations.

When starting a new post, when you start to type the first word, it would be nice it it started with a capital letter. The same can be said after a full stop also, it would be a great user advantage if these were included in the public release.

I am yet to test out the new buttons, but will do this shortly, and let you know how I get on.

          Hi Augusto,

you need to disable the certificate check. As we produce builds quite often we are not signing the builds yet. This means that you have to allow installing self-signed software.

Steps for this (I have only E75 atm):
Menu –> Control Panel –> App Manager –> Options –> Settings –> Software installation: “All”

You can reset that option after installing WordPress.

Please remember guys, when installing the qt libraries, and wordpress client, all of these need to be installed onto your phone memory, and not doing so will result in unexpected errors.

Some great news to report guys. This latest version works perfectly with the latest Nokia/Ovi Maps Beta, with no crashes when wordpress is launched. Good work guys.!

Will be putting the app through its paces further later today.

Update guys. I just tried to add a photo to a post for the first time with this version, and after selecting “Add Photos” button, the prompt pops up briefly to let me know its organizing, but then Im faced with a white screen, withe the two options, “select” & “cancel” showing. blank, and now photo preview, nothing.

      • Micky 4:59 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ok, I think my particular problem with photos may of been down to my actual N97 itself, so have once again hard reset it, and formatted mass memory. Many of my photos were showing as broken in the default Nokia photo gallery, so installed Nokia Photo Browser, but that didn’t display any, so an hard reset, and start a fresh was needed anyway.

Will let you know how I get on today once I have reinstalled everything.

        • Micky 6:27 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Further update. Sorted out my images now after an hard reset, reinstalled WordPress, and qt libraries fine, however, Im still experiencing the same problem, no photos showing to select/add, just a white screen. This is with camera settings set to store captured photos to memory card, so will try mass storage next see if that works. Will update shortly.

            Thanks Micky,

we need to double-check where the images are retrieved from. Unfortunately Qt does not provide a nice, clean solution for accessing images – therefore there are some hardcoded paths.

We hope that this will change during the spring when we’ll start using Qt Mobility API’s.

            BR

Ok, WordPress only appears to find images saved to either phone memory, or mass memory, its not finding save images to memory card. N97 V21.

            • Micky 6:36 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

First attempt to add the photo visible on mass memory, added correctly, however, was unable to see where image was inserted into post so could not align, or adjust/preview, then upon selecting publish, and set category, selecting save, and then was prompted “Editing post” but then received error, connection timed out.

Second attempt, prompted correctly, “Uploading a file”, but again, received an error, “Error Occurred” Connection Error, this was shown quite quickly after hitting Save.

3rd time, not lucky sadly, fails to upload file to add image. Possibly related to image resizer?

                • Micky 6:40 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

When you add a photo, the add photo bar located below the bold, and italic, links etc, does this change from saying “Adding 1 new photo” to “added”? As I see it at the moment, its unclear what the WordPress App is doing, I selected a file/photo, but as said previously, there is no image preview, or any script to see where the photo is being added in said post.

                  • Micky 6:42 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ok, tried for a 4th time, and “Uploading a file” stayed on the screen much longer this time, approx 40 seconds, then Error Occurred, Connection Timed Out prompt.

                    • Micky 6:48 am on March 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

What Im trying next, is to resize the image on the phone, as currently the size of the captured photo is quite big. Resized to 320×240, and BINGO, it works.!

So it looks like you may have a problem with the app resizer on large images.

Thank you for these observations. Peter will continue testing next Monday, hopefully we will then be able to locate the issues.

No problem Janne, & BR, as you know, I’m always keen to help, and test. I will be continuing to test even further today experimenting with various image sizes to try and narrow down the limitations that the app is having problems with. I will be taking photos with my N97 with the following settings.

      MMS 0.3 – Small
      Print 2M – Medium

I have already found that the setting below fails due to it being quite a large image..

      Print 5 – Large

Will report back with my findings later guys.!

I’m new here. I’m trying to install Qt and then WordPress for Nokia 0.5.4a on my N97 (v21 firmware) and it appears to install OK. Both to C.
But whenever I try to run WordPress, it crashes or reboots the phone.

I know space on the C drive is a
problem but I had about 40 MB
before and 12 MB after. Is that
      enough? Only significant thing
have installed to C is Ovi Maps
3.04 which I am reluctant to
      uninstall.

      • Micky 6:15 am on March 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I experienced the same issue as yourself Jose, but with Ovi Maps and 0.5.3 of wordpress. Try removing qt libraries completely and reinstalling. I have no problems now with 0.5.4a and Ovi Maps 3.04, and I too have an N97 with V21

        • Micky 10:05 am on March 20, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Experimenting with Multiple image attachments, I have found that when the initial post fails due to connection error, when you go into drafts you have to re-add the images that you chose to attach the first time, as its not currently keeping any attachments.

Also, it would be great if we could have some custom settings for images, so we can have the image inserted into the post in relation to the post content, header, or title of specific photo, because at the moment, all images are added in succession, one after the other, with no option to break, or add words between them..

Also as mentioned before to you guys, the current resize option, for me, needs a custom setting, even if this was basic, small medium, and large, it would work. Currently, as you can see from my screenshot below, the minimum resize function of 640px X 480px is too big, and the small resized image (see screenshot smaller photo), of 320px X 240px is too small, so ideally, we should at least have the option to set a medium side around 480px X 360px, which would be perfect for most WordPress blogs.

          Here’s my screenshot.

I’m sorry to report that I’m still having the same bugs that I’ve had in every version of this, summed up in this screen shot http://web12.twitpic.com/img/76971486-ae801ece4dd6c816b61f7441ccd0c24f.4ba51f40-full.jpg

I’m sorry, but for some reason the image opens as empty for me. Can you open a Trac ticket of your problem? Which device are you using? Does the latter problem mean that edit page view does not open or that when you press Save, it does not upload the data?

Hi, here’s an alternative link http://twitpic.com/19trku.
I’m using an N97(v21), but have had the same problem on E55 and 5530.

The latter problem meant that the edit page view doesn’t open, and as you’ll see from the link, I can’t even tell which page I’m asking for the edit view of anyway.

I would be very happy to open a trac ticket, but I don’t know how or where to do this. Could you please post a link for where your ticket tracking system for this project is please.

          Thanks.

Thank you, now I remember seeing this also earlier. I have, however, been unable to reproduce the issue on any device. Can you check what version is your WordPress installation or are you using wordpress.com blog? The post/page data in the client somehow seems corrupted, and that could cause several issues.

Hi, my blog is self hosting and running v2.9.2 (always keep right up to date).

I can edit anything I want via my desktop web browser. The only out the ordinary thing I’m doing is restricting access to my WP admin pages for only my home IP address. Although, seeing as how my phones are accessing the internet via the same WiFi router as my laptop is, I can’t see that being an issue.

    0.5.2 released

    Hi everybody,

We are releasing 0.5.2 to get rid of some bugs in previous releases. Download Maemo build or Symbian build.

Symbian users: the build has been linked against 4.6.2 Qt libraries, so please upgrade your Qt to 4.6.2 before installing.

Maemo users: the data file location has changed, so you need to re-enter your blog details after upgrading. This should not happen anymore in the future.

    Changes since 0.5.1 release:

    Common to both platforms:
    1. The application no longer writes a debug log file.

    Maemo-specific changes:
    1. Add photos dialog now finds images taken with the device camera.
    2. The executable is now installed to /opt so that precious rootfs space is not wasted.
    3. The data and other cache files are stored in different space so that they are easy to clean up in uninstall.

For installation instructions, please see this post by futubanister.

If you installed by transferring the files via bluetooth, you should remove the old files from your inbox, they spend a lot of space there.

Also check with the file browser if there is anything in the phone memory that you can move to the memory card, like ringtones, wallpapers etc.

    • Micky 3:21 pm on February 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Thanks, yes, that is exactly what was the problem, its a real shame, that with a Nokia Flagship device we have to face these memory problems.

Anyway, all installed fine now, and I have only 20mb of phone memory left. Will post a couple of tests posts, short ones this time, and see how it goes. Have you added Copy and paste functionality in this release btw?

Working great Janne, great work my friend.

      http://www.nokiadna.com/?p=86

Are there plans to implement a spell checker in future releases? Also the loading bar appears to be working in this release, where as before it appeared frozen, and thus resulting in worry. Maybe the loading status bar could be changed to an intelligent one, similar to the one found in Gravity, the twitter app, whereas the scrolling goes back and forth similar to knight rider light, and then when actual data is being transferred, it shows this in segment increases. just an idea.

      As said, great work.!

      • Janne Kalliomäki 3:41 pm on February 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Thanks for the compliments! A spell checker is in the wishlist, but there is no ETA yet, as we have not yet decided the feature set of 0.6 release. The progess bar by the way seemed to have been fixed in Qt 4.6.2, so Qt is also progressing rapidly.

Hi and thanks for the report! This sounds like some kind of a network problem. Are you sure you are using the latest build (0.5.2)? 0.5.0 had a severe bug that caused these issues, but later versions should work.

In case you are already using the latest version, can you please send the URL of your blog to me, either by replying to this comment or by email (janne.kalliomaki@futurice.com), so I can see if there is a problem in parsing the RSD API urls from the main page of your blog.

      Tested….
      some problems….
      1. Switching from landscape to portrait takes time.
      2. Phone becomes unresponsive for 10-15 seconds after exiting the app.
      3. T9 text entry has lots of problem like not going capital after full stop and STAYING CAPITAL and the inserting symbols is impossible… symbols are inserted at the start of the post.

      ———————–
waiting for inserting links, better way of inserting inline image, videos???
need more formatting options, spell check.
      ——-
Besides the above points everything is working fine. I published this post without a problem via the wordpress app – http://tinyurl.com/ylkzt57

Regarding the T9 I could use some more detailed examples. As I am not using the N97 myself it is hard to figure out when the T9 is not behaving as normal

Ok, details – the first letter of the word is not capital, so i make it capital and it should become small from the next letter of the word (example – Toy) but it stays capital (example TOY) and I have to manually turn it small.
In T9 when entering symbols the cursor automatically resets to the start of the paragraph
I hope that explains it, if you have doubt on anything please ask me.

      • Comments that are already approved published get a drop-menu option to be approved.
      • Nothing happens when I select to view comments.
      • Nothing happens when I select to edit pages (and there’s no option to view or open them).
