how are you liking the WP app for the n97? Right now i have a n95 8gb and am debating on getting the n97 because i believe it’s compatible with t-mobile’s 3g band. I’m kind of upset with myself for just finding about wordpress blog software for symbian. All my blogs are wordpress
shahryar, n97 was a device with many errors and the huge one it has not got enough ram. The N97 mini which was launched later should be better – I got one for my mum and she is using it with wordpress for nokia and is very happy
While in Chicago, I went to the Nokia store both on Monday and Tuesday and nothing really caught my eye. I’m replacing a N95 8gb that I bought in May 2009. I’m doing this because I want to give my wife my current $20 a month t-mobile internet plan which I think would be much faster than the $5.99 t-zones plan she’s using w/ her jailbroken & unlocked iPhone. If I do that and I get a $30 data plan (since the $20 isn’t offered anymore), I may as well get a new phone that takes advantage of the $30 plan’s 3g and a Nokia could fit that bill. but again, nothing’s catching my eye. I hate virtual keyboards so definitely don’t want that and I Think the N8 is fully virtual?
Wondering if the time may have come to abandon Nokia :/
Anyways, I got wordpress downloaded for now for my N95 8gb and have made a post with it but it seems ti’s meant for something w/ a touch screen
Shahyrayar, There is the nokia E7 which is rumoured to be coming out around christmas time which has the build quality of the n8 but also a key board. i personally have the n900 which i am very happy with but i hear it is not for everyone.. I also use wordpress for nokia on it and it works well. Why don’t you give the womworld nokia guys a shout out to trial one of the nokia devices: http://www.womworld.com/nokia/trial/ without first committing
awesome idea, just signed up for the trial. I selected the N97 Mini because that’s what I’m most familiar with. I’m not sure what the N900 is all about. I played around with the 5800 and liked its keyboard. For the past so many years, I’ve only cared about a phone w/ keypad because I text so much w/ one hand while doing stuff that I can go fast as hell on T9 (although – at least on the N95 8gb – the limitation of the phone’s memory for new words really makes it harder than it should). But I guess I should look into something else.
For the reason why they should select me, I put in the following: (I hope it doesn’t rub them the wrong way)
I am a huge fan of Nokia, always have been and always will be. My first phone was a 6185 w/ Sprint in – I think 2000, maybe ’99? Then came my 8860, my 8890, my 6170, my N79 and now my current N95 8gb. I bought my wife a 8801 after our wedding for Eid and then a N82 for her Birthday.
I want a new, better Nokia to replace my N95 8gb – pref something that’s compatible w/ t-mobile’s 3g. I put in the N97 Mini because I’m most familiar with it but if there’s something better I am open to it.
I will be discussing the hell out of this phone so if your product is out of this world, I will do my part to let the world know.
Awesome! Nokia just got back to me about the trial. Actually, they saw a tweet of mine yesterday and sort of accepted me through different channels. The paperwork they sent is for the N97 Mini but before I went with it, I wanted to make sure it was the best phone to try out for my needs. All options are:
I don’t think I care for the booklet 3g – I’m guessing that’s like the iPad? And the N97 Mini’s faster and better than the N97 right? I’d go w/ the N97 if they were the same because I like bigger. The E71 and E72 must be outdated now by the E75 so those two would be out right? Plus I’m not a fan of the front QWERTY. The remaining phone is the N86 but is it like the N85 w/ its keypad? Before I went with the N95 8gb in Spring of ’09, I tried both the N85 and the N79 and couldn’t use the keypad for the life of me, it was too annoying. I went with the (pretty sure) worst phone of what was out at the time just because the keypad felt much better and I could type faster on it (I would be able to type infinitely faster if the stupid T9 memory was better and I didn’t have to keep teaching the phone the same words over and over)
to the wordpress 4nokia developers -> sorry for hijacking this thread… i love your application!!
Shahryar, I do not work for Nokia and am not associated with them but have used the n95 8gb (like you) and am now using the N900. My mum is very happy with the n97 mini which is a more main stream device than the n900 and has turn by turn navigation. if there is a chance for you to trial both then i would recommend you to try the n900 and the n97 mini and see which one you like better. i never touched the n97 but a lot of people complained abobut this phone and word on the street is that the n97 mini which came later is superior (even though it has less storage and I think it is cheaper) – see here an article I found: http://nokiaexperts.com/review-nokia-n97-mini-original/ If you don’t need turn by turn and love getting technical the n900 is the better option. if you prefer to have a more mature OS then the n97 mini is better – the nokia booklet is a net book.
Thanks Andre, let’s take this conversation offline then. My twitter username is @shahryar . btw – if you’re a N900 user, have you seen this blog post? http://www.allaboutmeego.com/features/item/Sergejs_Maemo_Application_List.php ? I just asked the author of that (@_Nexus ) to chime in on my post because he seems to know the N900 inside and out
i have had my nokia N97 for 6 months now and since i got ive had nothing BUT trouble, first the internet was disconnecting me while i was logged into websites like banking, when the phone went died and i recharged it, i had to pull the battery out and turn it back on.
Then when i was ringing people they couldn’t hear me.
Then my navigator was telling me that it had expired when ive only had it 6 months, and my battery was faulty.
Now after waiting 2 weeks to get my phone back from nokia (yes it took them 2 weeks to get a battery) i cant make or receive calls and my internet is done but only in selected areas.
I rang Vodafone & nokia and they sugested i get a replacement phone but the store i got it through said i couldn’t

I’ll be honest, it’s getting harder though. Nokia’s been on my mind. A few days ago, I Wrote this post on my blog: http://ifweran.com/nokia-we-would-ah-jeez-pretty-much-change-everything-just-see-the-post/2010/08/ I know it is pretty harsh, but if you read it, you’ll see the passion I am bringing. And I do feel the situation is dire.
