0.5.1 released
As 0.5.0 had a couple of severe issues, we are releasing 0.5.1 immediately to fix them. So please download the Symbian or the Maemo build.
This build fixes an issue with HTTP redirects, so your custom WordPress installations should work much better now. Maemo version no longer has black text on black background in the drop-down menus.
If you have any test results or feedback, please let us know!
Edit: Maemo build had a grave packaging issue, so the new 0.5.1b build is fixed. So if you installed the plain 0.5.1, please reinstall. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Ok, thanks for testing and the report. Can you open tickets for the issues? They are serious and should be fixed with a high priority.

Just a quick note to say I tested 0.5.0 on a 5530 (5th Edition) and E55 (3rd Edition FP2) this evening. It worked fine on the 5530, just comments wouldn’t load when tapped, and the boxes in the comment list were blank.
However, had more trouble with the E55 because there was no way for me to call up the symbol menu on the username and password boxes.

Hi David, can you please post a Trac ticket about the 5530 problems, preferably with some kind of screenshots. The problem sounds pretty weird.
About the symbol menu, can you try if a long press of * button works?
David 2:52 pm on February 13, 2010 Permalink |
Hi,
I’ll do that for the 5530.
As for the E55, yes I managed to get the symbol menu up – so that was my mistake.

Have just grabbed this version having been alerted to it by Symbian Guru, and I’d have to say its quite robust.
Despite using the Qt framework (which is an 11MB min payload & forced C: install, a pain for N97 users), its well presented and worked first time. Look forward to seeing how it progresses.

Just wrote out a detailed post, twice, only to lose everything I typed. It didn’t save to drafts, and the second time I typed my post out on my N97, which Im using now, I tried to copy and paste a backup, but sadly, holding down the shift on the N97 didn’t bring up the copy option.

Sorry, forgot to mention, it was approx 200 word post I lost twice, and the error I got was connection error timed out.
also, navigating around the typed text with the N97 dpad is tricky. Left and right is fine, but if you press up or down, instead of the cursor moving from line to line in written text, it move the the above, or below fields.

Thanks for the report, the first issue is clearly a bug, which has to be fixed. I opened a ticket for it.
If you think the navigation issue is serious, you can open a ticket for it. Personally, I think that the current way is better, as without it, it’d take ages to scroll through a very long post.

Thanks Janne, yes, Im wondering if it was due to the size of the post why it timed out.?
As for the navigation through post text, its not that much of a problem, as you can simply touch the screen to move cursor.
The Copy and Paste bug certainly needs fixing for sure.
